Job Description

  • Perform the professional duties of a pediatrician in accordance with established medical standards.

  • Provide leadership and coordination to the Neonatal Unit (NNU) in achieving its objectives.

  • Evaluate pediatric patients daily in the Pediatric Outpatient Clinic, providing comprehensive care and treatment.

  • Carry out the duties of a pediatrician as per the delineation of privileges recommended by the Credentialing Committee and approved by the Medical Director. This includes ordering laboratory and radiological tests, determining diagnoses, prescribing medications, advising on nursing and dietary care, and implementing preventive health measures.

  • Attend deliveries, including cesarean sections, as required by the medical team.

  • Offer consultation and referral services to in-patient services within the pediatrician's area of expertise.

  • Follow patients throughout their entire care process, from initial consultation to the development and implementation of a treatment plan.

  • Serve as a Consultant Pediatrician, providing expert consultative services to other medical specialties and departments.

  • Stay current with advancements in pediatrics by reviewing relevant journals, textbooks, and periodicals to enhance knowledge of the latest techniques, procedures, drugs, and therapies.

  • Provide on-call emergency coverage for pediatric emergencies, ensuring timely and expert care.

Job Skills

  • Medical Education: Graduate of an accredited medical school with a valid license to practice medicine.

  • Postgraduate Training: Completed post-graduate training in Pediatrics from an approved medical institution. Certification by the American Board of Pediatrics or an equivalent UK certification, such as Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (Paediatrics), is required.

  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience as a full-time pediatrician, following residency training.

  • Professional Knowledge and Ethics: In-depth understanding of medical ethics, particularly the obligation to maintain patient confidentiality. Must demonstrate a professional demeanor that inspires confidence and trust in patients. Adherence to the bylaws, rules, and regulations of the medical organization is essential.

  • Licensure: Current licensure to practice medicine in the country of origin and a valid Department of Health (DOH) license to practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

  • Language Skills: Excellent command of both oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic is desirable but not required.

  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in interactions with colleagues, superiors, patients, and their families.
