Staff Nurse - Medical/Surgical (M/S) Ward

Job Description

• Conduct thorough assessments of patients' health status upon admission and during their stay.
• Monitor vital signs, observe for any signs of complications, and promptly report changes to the healthcare team.
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans based on patient's medical conditions, surgical procedures, and treatment needs.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
• Administer medications as prescribed, ensuring accuracy in dosage and timing.
• Educate patients on the purpose and potential side effects of medications.
• Provide specialized care for patients recovering from surgical procedures.
• Perform wound care, monitor surgical sites for signs of infection, and assist with the management of postoperative pain.
• Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care instructions.
• Provide information on lifestyle modifications and self-care practices.
• Work collaboratively with physicians, surgeons, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to care planning discussions.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
• Complete required forms and reports in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control protocols to minimize the risk of hospital-acquired infections.
• Implement and promote hand hygiene practices among staff and patients.
• Respond promptly to medical emergencies within the M/S Ward, demonstrating competence in life-saving interventions.
• Ensure the availability and functionality of emergency equipment.
• Serve as an advocate for patients, ensuring their needs and preferences are communicated and addressed.
• Address any concerns or questions raised by patients and their families.
• Stay informed about advancements in medical and surgical nursing practices.
• Attend training sessions, workshops, and conferences to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Follow hospital policies, protocols, and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe and compliant healthcare environment.
