Job Description

• Performs administrative functions at the Department level as established by the Medical Management.
• Supports Continuous Quality Improvement by developing and promoting appropriate standards of care.
• Develops and implements work assignments, on-call assignments, and vacation schedules for Department staff.
• Supervises and monitors the delivery of health care by department staff, providing guidance regarding patient care when indicated and taking remedial action when appropriate.
• Develops and implements effective Peer Review, providing annual and ongoing feedback as appropriate.
• Works closely with other concerned committees in developing policies and procedures to promote quality health care for psychiatric patients.
• Exercises effective interpersonal skills in dealings with department staff, associates, and management.
• Evidences leadership skills in developing in others the willingness and desire to work toward common objectives.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information and administrative matters of a confidential nature.
• Produces written communications, assessments, proposals, and administrative documents that are timely and of high quality.
• Demonstrates dependability in carrying out the commitments and obligations of the position.
• Demonstrates the ability to listen to others in promoting effective communication.
• Develops a thorough understanding of hospital policies and procedures and demonstrates respect for them.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Medical Director.
• Complies with all OSH and infection control policies, standards, and procedures and cooperates with hospital management to comply with those requirements.
• Works in accordance with documented OSH procedures and instructions, fulfilling specific responsibilities.
• Is familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
• Notifies OSH hazards, incidents, near misses, and issues and assists with the preparation of risk assessments and incident reports.
• Complies with waste management procedures and policies.
• Attends applicable OSH/infection control training programs, mock drills, and awareness programs.
• Uses appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
