Job Description

Coordinate and schedule operating theatre activities, including surgeries, procedures, and other related events.
Ensure efficient use of operating theatre resources and optimize scheduling to minimize downtime.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of surgical procedures, including patient information, surgery type, and surgeon details.
Ensure that all required documentation, such as consent forms and medical histories, is complete and filed appropriately.
Serve as a liaison between the operating theatre, medical staff, and other relevant departments.
Communicate with surgeons, nurses, and support staff to facilitate smooth workflow and address scheduling conflicts.
Coordinate the availability and readiness of surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies for each procedure.
Collaborate with the materials management team to ensure adequate stock levels and timely procurement of surgical supplies.
Assist in the preparation of operating rooms before surgical procedures, ensuring that all necessary equipment is in place and functioning properly.
Communicate with the nursing staff to confirm patient readiness for surgery.
Enter relevant information into computerized systems, maintaining accurate and organized records.
Generate reports related to operating theatre utilization, equipment maintenance, and other key performance indicators.
Interact with patients to provide information about surgery schedules, preoperative instructions, and any necessary paperwork.
Address patient inquiries and concerns in a professional and empathetic manner.
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety regulations, and relevant healthcare standards.
Stay informed about updates in operating theatre procedures and regulations.
Participate in quality assurance initiatives, contributing to the continuous improvement of operating theatre processes.
Assist in monitoring and maintaining cleanliness and organization within the operating theatre environment.
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate effective teamwork in the operating theatre.
Be prepared to respond to urgent situations and emergencies within the operating theatre, following established protocols.

Job Skills

Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Certification as a healthcare assistant is required.
Additional certifications or training in healthcare administration or medical office management are preferred.
Proven experience as a healthcare assistant, demonstrating competence in providing patient care and support.
Should have experience in roles involving direct patient interaction and assistance.
Should have demonstrated administrative experience, particularly in healthcare settings. This may include tasks such as appointment scheduling, medical record management, and handling patient inquiries.
