Job Description

• Prepare treatment rooms for dental procedures by setting out instruments and ensuring they are sterilized.
• Assist the dentist during dental procedures by handing them instruments, suctioning fluids, and retracting tissues.
• Welcome patients to the dental office and ensure their comfort.
• Prepare patients for dental procedures by taking and recording vital signs, reviewing medical histories, and explaining treatment procedures.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene techniques, post-operative care instructions, and preventive dental care.
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment according to infection control guidelines.
• Maintain dental equipment and instruments by cleaning, lubricating, and arranging for repairs as needed.
• Schedule and confirm patient appointments.
• Update and maintain patient records and charts.
• Handle billing and insurance claims, including processing payments and verifying insurance coverage.
• Take and process dental X-rays as instructed by the dentist.
• Prepare dental impressions, models, and casts for analysis by the dentist.
• Order and maintain dental supplies and equipment inventory.
• Monitor stock levels and anticipate needs to ensure smooth operation of the dental practice.
• Assist the dentist in managing dental emergencies, such as injuries or sudden onset of pain, by providing first aid and preparing necessary equipment.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including those related to infection control, patient privacy (HIPAA), and dental practice standards.
• Stay updated on developments in dental technology, procedures, and regulations through continuing education courses and training.
