Staff Nurse - Operation Theatre

Job Description

• Conduct thorough patient assessments before surgery, including reviewing medical histories and verifying consent.
• Prepare the operating room by ensuring all equipment, supplies, and instrumentation are ready for use.
• Assist in positioning and preparing patients for surgery.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to provide sterile instruments and supplies during procedures.
• Monitor patients' vital signs, anesthesia administration, and other relevant parameters throughout surgery.
• Anticipate the needs of surgeons and other team members to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
• Transfer patients to post-anesthesia care units (PACU) or recovery areas, monitoring their postoperative status.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring optimal pain management and comfort.
• Assess and manage potential complications, collaborating with healthcare professionals to address any issues promptly.
• Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols in the operating room.
• Maintain a clean and organized surgical environment, following established guidelines for sterilization and cleanliness.
• Record accurate and comprehensive documentation of patient care, including preoperative assessments and intraoperative details.
• Communicate effectively with the surgical team, perioperative staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
• Stay prepared to respond swiftly to emergencies, demonstrating competence in life-saving procedures.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team during crises, following established protocols for emergency management.
• Stay current with advancements in surgical techniques, technologies, and nursing practices.
• Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance skills and maintain licensure.
• Provide patients and their families with information on postoperative care, including medication management and potential complications.
• Offer emotional support and address any concerns or questions regarding the surgical process.
