Job Description

• Professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work and to ensure a high standard of clinical care for patients under one’s care and support other team members to do likewise.
• Maintain and update professional knowledge and skills to screen, assess and treat patients with communication and swallowing disorders. 
• Undertake a comprehensive, highly specialist communication and dysphagia assessment of patients across the age continuum, including those with the most complex presentation, using advanced investigative and analytical skills.
• Ensure that methods of assessment and treatment are used for patients with communication and swallowing disorders are according to evidence-based practice and in compliance with the institutional policies.
• Use advanced clinical reasoning and a wide range of treatment skills and options to formulate individual management and specialist treatment plans, in agreement with the patient where appropriate
• If the SLP has a dual qualification that includes Audiology he / she may screen, evaluate the    hearing status of the residents.
• Develop and implement linguistically and culturally appropriate strategies and tools to work with patients
