Job Description

  • Provide comprehensive, professional, and ethically sound clinical services to patients in an effective and efficient manner.

  • Monitor and manage clinical risks associated with direct patient care.

  • Ensure compliance with clinical governance and quality management standards.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.

  • Maintain excellence in medical practice by focusing on continuous professional development for oneself and others.

  • Uphold integrity in professional services by delivering clinical care in an ethical and responsible manner.

  • Perform professional duties as a neonatologist.

  • Conduct thorough assessments and reassessments of patients.

  • Perform general and specialized examinations, as well as other procedures within the full scope of neonatology. This includes ordering laboratory exams, x-rays, diagnosing, prescribing necessary nursing and dietary care, and implementing preventive measures.

  • Serve as the primary on-call for all patients under the Neonatology service and provide consultations to other specialties such as Pediatric Surgery and OB/Gyn for both in-patients and out-patients, as needed or assigned.

  • Provide in-patient care to admitted newborns, attending deliveries (including caesarean sections) according to the duty roster, and working in shifts that may include day or night shifts.

  • Diagnose and treat patients according to established best practice standards within neonatology.

  • Act as a neonatology specialist, providing consultative services to other medical departments and offering technical assistance with neonatal patients.

  • Provide on-call emergency coverage for neonatology.

  • Assess risks, report incidents, and actively participate in Risk Management processes.

  • Collaborate with senior staff to review adverse events, incidents, and complaints, exploring opportunities to improve care quality and providing recommendations for risk management.

  • Fulfill professional requirements for maintaining competence in all aspects of neonatal medicine.

  • Perform other assigned duties within the scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities appropriate to the neonatal position.

Job Skills

  • At least 3 - 5 years’ post qualification experience at Specialist level (independent of country)
  • Worked in Level 3 NICU
  • Basic medical degree and completion of a specialty qualification/education programme (fellowship/diploma) recognised by the relevant UAE healthcare authority.
  • Certification and registration in a speciality recognised by relevant UAE healthcare authority. Active and valid life support certification (e.g. BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP)
