Job Description

  • Ensure that ophthalmological care provided aligns with Joint Commission standards.

  • Monitor the quality of care delivered within established guidelines and actively participate in the review and discussion of complex or special cases.

  • Oversee daily eye care services to ensure continuous compliance with Joint Commission standards.

  • Stay current with advancements and developments in the field of ophthalmology.

  • Participate in weekly clinical rounds and peer review meetings.

  • Collaborate with the Head of Department (HOD) in planning and integrating curative and preventive aspects of comprehensive patient care.

  • Contribute to the implementation of approved curative and preventive health programs relevant to ophthalmology.

  • Participate in quality assurance (QA) programs as directed by the Medical Director.

  • Assist in orienting new staff members when requested.

  • Maintain regular communication with the HOD and other team members to ensure coordinated and effective care.

  • Engage actively in teaching sessions organized for nursing and ancillary staff.

  • Serve on hospital committees and task forces as assigned by the Medical Director.

Job Skills

  • Graduation from an accredited medical school, followed by completion of a rotating internship.

  • Completion of a three-year residency in Ophthalmology, culminating in a postgraduate Master’s degree and/or equivalent Fellowship recognized by the Department of Health (DOH).

  • A minimum of three (3) years of exclusive clinical practice in Ophthalmology following board certification or equivalent qualification.

  • Must hold a valid DOH license to practice as an Ophthalmologist in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

  • Proficiency in English is essential for documentation and communication within a multicultural healthcare environment. Basic knowledge of medical Arabic is desirable but not mandatory.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical ethics and commitment to upholding the highest standards of professional conduct.
