Job Description

  • Conduct thorough examinations of patients' eyes to diagnose various eye conditions, including refractive errors, cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and others.
  • Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests such as visual field tests, OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography), fundus photography, and others to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Developing comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patient's specific condition, which may include prescribing medication, recommending surgical intervention, or suggesting lifestyle changes.
  • Performing surgical procedures such as cataract surgery, LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis), corneal transplant, retinal detachment repair, and others as needed.
  • Providing post-operative care and monitoring patients' progress after surgical procedures, as well as managing ongoing treatment for chronic eye conditions.
  • Educating patients about their eye conditions, treatment options, and preventive measures to maintain eye health.
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, such as optometrists, primary care physicians, and other specialists, to provide comprehensive care for patients with systemic conditions affecting the eyes.
  • Staying updated on the latest advancements in ophthalmology through research, attending conferences, and participating in continuing medical education (CME) activities to enhance clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient histories, examination findings, treatment plans, and follow-up notes.
  • Adhering to ethical standards and professional guidelines in patient care, including patient confidentiality, informed consent, and maintaining a respectful and compassionate bedside manner.

Job Skills

  • Must have an MOH or DHA license in Specialist Ophthalmology.
  • Proficiency in performing complex ophthalmic surgeries including cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, vitrectomy, and retinal detachment repair.
  • Skill in developing individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique eye condition and medical history.
