Specialist - Obstetrics & Gynaecology

Job Description

• Comply with the rules, regulations, and procedures of practicing the profession according to grade and specialty.

• Provide care for women during prenatal, natal, and postnatal periods.

• Monitor patients’ conditions and progress, and re-evaluate treatments as necessary.

• Perform Cesarean sections or other surgical procedures when needed to preserve the patient’s health and ensure safe delivery.

• Interview new patients to assess symptoms, needs, or concerns, and utilize medical history for accurate diagnosis.

• Perform well-woman exams, including Pap smears, pelvic exams, and breast exams.

• Conduct follow-up appointments to monitor and track patient conditions.

• Order and interpret necessary diagnostic tests such as screenings, biopsies, scans, and lab work to aid in diagnosis.

• Direct, advise, and supervise medical staff—including nurses, physician assistants, and medical technicians—on procedures and protocols.

• Treat diseases and injuries of the female reproductive system; prescribe prenatal and postnatal care.

• Explain procedures, test results, and prescribed treatments clearly to patients.

• Maintain comprehensive medical records, including present, past, and family history, prior to diagnosing or initiating treatment.

• Provide prenatal care for women and their unborn babies.

• Prescribe appropriate medications, compresses, and antibiotics based on individual patient needs.

• Develop and implement surgical and treatment plans; ensure proper preparation and planning for each procedure.
