Job Description

  • Perform professional duties as an obstetrician/gynecologist, which include providing surgical care in both the operating room and outpatient department (O.P.D.) for gynecologic and obstetric conditions, addressing both emergency and planned procedures.
  • Cover the Delivery Room by admitting patients, reviewing their medical history, planning a course of action, performing spontaneous and operative deliveries, and collaborating with midwives.
  • Respond promptly to calls for consultation in the Emergency Service and provide outpatient care in clinics as assigned by the Head of Department.
  • Work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays according to a schedule compiled by the Head of Department.
  • Perform and interpret ultrasound examinations in both hospital and outpatient settings, interpret fetal heart rate monitoring, and take appropriate action as needed.
  • Conduct formal and informal consultations with physicians from other departments, and attend committee meetings as assigned by the Head of Department.
  • Communicate with patients' families to keep them informed about the patient's condition, changes, and plans. Monitor clinical indicators to ensure ongoing quality assurance.
  • Adhere to the organization's medical regulations and policies, particularly those related to infection control, patient safety, assessment, and care. Carry out additional duties as requested by the Head of Department.
  • Monitor the quality of care provided within established guidelines and participate in the review of complex cases. Comply with all Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and infection control policies, cooperating with hospital management to meet these requirements.
  • Work in accordance with documented OSH procedures and specific responsibilities. Familiarize yourself with emergency and evacuation procedures, and notify of OSH hazards, incidents, and near misses while assisting with risk assessments and incident reports.
  • Comply with waste management procedures and policies, and attend relevant OSH/infection control training programs, mock drills, and awareness sessions. Use appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.
  • All licensed healthcare providers participating in the DOH Cervical Cancer Screening Program must provide clinical services and patient care in accordance with DOH policies and the laws of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. They should submit data to DOH via e-Claims per the DOH Reporting of Health Statistics Policy.
  • Providers must comply with DOH policies and standards, particularly regarding patient education and consent, managing patient medical records, and DOH data standards and procedures. They should cooperate with DOH requests for record inspections and audits, and comply with IT and data management requirements, including sharing relevant screening and diagnosis information, electronic patient records, and disease management systems.

Job Skills

  • Graduation from an approved medical school, followed by an internship, is required. A minimum of three years of residency in obstetrics and gynecology is essential, culminating in the attainment of a Post Graduate Master’s degree or equivalent Fellowships approved by the Department of Health (DOH).
  • Candidates must possess a valid DOH License to practice. A minimum of three years of exclusive practice in obstetrics and gynecology since certification is also required.
  • Excellent command of written and oral English is essential, and basic knowledge of medical Arabic is desirable. Additionally, a thorough understanding of medical ethics is required.
