Job Description

  • Perform the professional duties of a Neurologist in accordance with approved privileges by the Credential Committee in both the OPD and IP.
  • Oversee the operation of the Neurodiagnostic Laboratory (EEG, EMG), including ongoing training of technicians as necessary.
  • Provide on-call emergency coverage for Neurologic emergencies.
  • Participate in monthly educational conferences.
  • Support Continuous Quality Improvement and develop/promote appropriate standards of care.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills in dealings with department staff, associates, and Management.
  • Exhibit leadership skills in developing others' willingness and desire to work toward common objectives.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding patient information and administrative matters of a confidential nature.
  • Demonstrate the ability to listen to others to promote effective communication.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of hospital policies and procedures and demonstrate respect for them.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Department.
  • Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards, and procedures, cooperating with hospital management to meet these requirements.
  • Work in accordance with documented OSH procedures and instructions, fulfilling specific responsibilities.
  • Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures.
  • Notify OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses, and issues and assist with the preparation of risk assessments and incident reports.
  • Comply with Waste management procedures and policies.
  • Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills, and awareness programs.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems.

Job Skills

  • Graduation from an approved medical school plus one year of internship and three years of residency.
  • Certification by the American Board of Neurology or Member of the Royal College of Neurology (or its equivalent).
  • At least three (3) years of practice as a Neurologist as a licensed specialist.
  • Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
  • Must be highly skilled in the particular field of practice, with mature clinical judgment and ability to provide professional leadership.
  • Thorough knowledge of Medical Department policies and procedures, with particular reference to the obligation to maintain confidentiality.
  • Personality which inspires confidence and trust in patients.
  • Adherence to Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations of the Medical Organization.
  • Current licensure in country of origin and with HAAD license to practice Neurology as a specialist in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients, and families.
