Specialist - Nephrology

Job Description

• Perform the professional duties of a nephrologist in accordance with the delineation of privileges as approved by the Credentials Committee.
• Provides after working hours on-call emergency coverage for nephrology emergencies and haemodialysis unit.
• Provides supervision and education to the dialysis staff: nurses and technicians.
• Participates and contributes to the educational activities in the service.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by the Head of the Department (e.g. Committee membership).
• Participates and contributes to all the quality assurance activities of the service (e.g. monthly mortality and morbidity conference, peer review, audit and chart review).
• Supports Continuous Quality Improvement. Develops and promotes appropriate standards of care.
• Exercises effective interpersonal skills in dealings with department staff, with associates and with Management.
• Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information and regarding administrative matters of a confidential nature.
• Demonstrates the ability to listen to others in promoting effective communication.
• Develops thorough understanding of policies and procedures of the hospital and demonstrates respect for them.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of the Department.
