Job Description

  • Contribute to the training and education of all staff involved in patient care to ensure they meet the expectations of their clinical privileges.

  • Demonstrate effective team leadership among staff working directly under their supervision.

  • Collaborate collegially with all Medical Centre personnel, fostering a supportive and respectful work environment.

  • Comply with all departmental policies, rules, and clinical guidelines.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of Clinical Guidelines, Care Pathways, and Managed Care processes as required.

  • Participate in the department’s on-call rota, providing out-of-hours care as needed.

  • When on-call, assume temporary Most Responsible Physician (MRP) duties for patients under their care, ensuring proper clinical handover.

  • Exercise clinical judgment within their scope of privileges; escalate to emergency privileges only when necessary and when no equivalent MRP is available.

  • Maintain clear, ethical, and compassionate communication with patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment, and care plans.

  • Avoid inappropriate discussion of colleagues in front of patients or families, unless required in formal medicolegal settings and documented accordingly.

  • Report serious or repeated professional concerns about other medical staff to the appropriate line manager for early intervention.

  • Ensure all patient medical records are accurate, legible, and completed in a timely manner in line with institutional policy.

  • Actively participate in mortality and morbidity review meetings in a transparent and constructive manner.

  • Uphold strict confidentiality in accordance with DOH regulations and institutional policies.

  • Lead the training of junior medical staff and contribute to the education of nurses, allied health professionals, patients, and the broader community.

  • Engage in continuous professional development through audit, research, conferences, and use of educational resources to enhance patient care.

Job Skills

  • MBBS or MBChB or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution 
  • Completion of specialty qualification as per the Recognized Specialty Certificate table
