Job Description

  • Conducting thorough medical histories and physical examinations to assess patients' symptoms, risk factors, and overall health status.
  • Ordering and interpreting specialized tests to diagnose endocrine disorders, including blood tests to measure hormone levels, imaging studies (such as ultrasound, MRI, or CT scans), and functional tests (e.g., glucose tolerance tests, thyroid uptake scans).
  • Developing comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patient's specific condition, which may include medication management, hormone replacement therapy, lifestyle modifications, or surgical intervention.
  • Providing ongoing care and management for chronic endocrine disorders such as diabetes mellitus, thyroid disorders (e.g., hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism), adrenal disorders (e.g., Addison's disease, Cushing's syndrome), and pituitary disorders (e.g., acromegaly, hypopituitarism).
  • Educating patients about their condition, treatment options, and self-management strategies, including dietary modifications, exercise regimens, and medication adherence.
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, such as primary care physicians, nutritionists, diabetes educators, and surgeons, to provide coordinated care for patients with complex endocrine conditions.
  • Participating in clinical research studies and staying updated on the latest advancements in endocrinology to improve patient care and outcomes.
  • Advocating for patients' needs and rights within the healthcare system, including access to specialized treatments, support services, and resources for managing their condition.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development activities, attending conferences, workshops, and seminars to stay abreast of advances in endocrinology and maintain licensure and board certification.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient histories, examination findings, treatment plans, and progress notes, in compliance with regulatory standards and patient confidentiality guidelines.
  • Adhering to ethical principles and professional standards in patient care, including informed consent, confidentiality, and respecting patients' autonomy and dignity.

Job Skills

  • Must have an MOH or DHA license in Specialist Endocrinology.
