Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Description

• Responsible for rendering professional nursing care to patients within the operating theatre , ensuring that nursing care is an integral part of the total patient care , working in conjunction with the medical staff and according to policies and procedures of the hoResponsible for the implementation and delivery of age appropriate patient care congruent with the mission, vision and values of the organisation. 
• Collaborates with nursing staff and multidisciplinary teams on effective patient management.
• Liaise with other health care providers as necessary to ensure appropriate and timely interventions for patients and for discharge planning.
• Provides a comprehensive clinical handover / report as required to ensure patient safety using SBAR principles.
• Establish priorities of care, nursing actions and desired outcomes in a timely manner.
• Good knowledge of contemporary nursing practices.
• Manages clinical and operational activities and ensure the provision of optimum clinical care, customer satisfaction and patient safety.
• Demonstrate ability to adapt to varied age-specific patient populations.
• Demonstrate maturity and accountability for job performance.
• Maintains an effective rapport with patients, visitors, physicians, subordinates and other directors.
• Good judgment and analytical ability in preparing work for review.
• Promotes confidentiality and uses complete discretion when discussing information.
• Works collaboratively with other staff members to provide continuous service to the organisation.
• Ability to express self in the areas of communication verbal, written and non-verbal.
• Demonstrates knowledge of current computer system used in the organisation.
• Demonstrates adherence to safety and risk management policies as evidenced by in-service attendance records and employee practices.
