OT Coordinator

Job Description

• Patient Assessment: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients to determine their occupational therapy needs, including physical, cognitive, emotional, and environmental factors.
• Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, patient goals, and evidence-based practices. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care.
• Therapeutic Interventions: Administer occupational therapy interventions, such as therapeutic exercises, activities of daily living (ADL) training, adaptive equipment provision, and environmental modifications.
• Progress Monitoring: Regularly evaluate patient progress towards goals, adjust treatment plans as needed, and communicate updates to the healthcare team and patients' families.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries, adhering to legal and regulatory requirements.
• Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on injury prevention, self-care techniques, adaptive strategies, and community resources to promote independence and optimal functioning.
• Equipment Management: Coordinate the procurement, maintenance, and safe use of adaptive equipment and assistive devices, ensuring proper fitting and functionality for individual patients.
• Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the delivery of occupational therapy services, streamline processes, and achieve better patient outcomes.
• Continuing Education: Stay abreast of advancements in occupational therapy practice, participate in professional development activities, and share knowledge with colleagues to promote best practices.
• Leadership and Supervision: Provide leadership and supervision to OT staff, including therapists, assistants, and support personnel, to ensure effective teamwork and quality service delivery.
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, nurses, social workers, and rehabilitation specialists, to coordinate care, address patient needs comprehensively, and facilitate smooth transitions across care settings.
• Compliance and Ethics: Adhere to ethical standards and professional codes of conduct, comply with organizational policies and procedures, and advocate for the rights and well-being of patients.
• Community Outreach: Engage in community outreach activities, such as health fairs, educational workshops, and support groups, to promote awareness of occupational therapy services and improve access to care.
• Research and Evidence-Based Practice: Participate in research initiatives, contribute to evidence-based practice guidelines, and incorporate research findings into clinical decision-making to enhance the quality and effectiveness of occupational therapy interventions.
