General Practitioner

Job Description

• Conduct preventive and promotive healthcare services for all incoming patients.

• Follow standard protocols as per the privileges of a General Practitioner defined by the Department of Health (DOH).

• Observe patients for short periods when clinically necessary.

• Inform or call Specialists/Consultants for further management as needed.

• Adhere to protocols when prescribing medications, ordering laboratory tests, and requesting radiology investigations.

• Refer patients to Specialists promptly when the need is identified during treatment.

• Work across all hospital areas (wards, ICU, ER, etc.) based on experience and deployment by the Head of Department (HOD).

• Be available to work in external clinics if deployed.

• Accompany home visits as required.

• Provide assistance with patient transfers (incoming and outgoing), if assigned.

• Be willing to travel outside the UAE for patient transfers, if required.

• Participate in healthcare-related activities such as medical camps, outdoor check-ups, and social/CSR initiatives.

• Administer preventive vaccinations when necessary.

• Ensure compliance with DOH reporting requirements and statutory/regulatory guidelines.

• Deliver general care to patients in hospital wards and outpatient clinics.

• Examine and interview patients to accurately diagnose medical conditions.

• Document findings and treatments as part of medical records and for future reference.

• Collaborate with medical and non-medical staff to ensure the delivery of quality care.

• Work cohesively with other physicians as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Promote health education and preventive care among patients.

• Stay up to date with and comply with all applicable local regulations and requirements.

• Maintain professional quality standards in alignment with Joint Commission International (JCI) and DOH expectations.
