Endoscopy Technician

Job Description

• Ensure all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and in working order before procedures.
• Prepare the endoscopy room, including cleaning and sterilizing equipment as needed.
• Assist in setting up the endoscope and other related equipment.
• Escort patients to the procedure room and help them feel comfortable and informed about the procedure.
• Assist patients in positioning for the procedure, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout.
• Monitor patients' vital signs and assist with any needs or concerns during the procedure.
• Hand instruments to the physician as needed during the procedure.
• Operate endoscopic equipment under the direction of the physician.
• Maintain a sterile field during procedures to prevent infection.
• Assist with specimen collection and labeling as required.
• Assist with patient recovery after the procedure, monitoring vital signs and addressing any immediate post-procedure issues.
• Clean and disinfect the endoscopy room and equipment after each procedure.
• Ensure proper handling and disposal of contaminated materials and biohazard waste.
• Maintain accurate records of procedures performed, including patient information, procedure details, and any complications or adverse events.
• Document equipment maintenance and calibration as required.
• Adhere to all relevant safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards.
• Participate in quality assurance activities and audits to ensure compliance with standards and protocols.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and medical records.
• Stay updated on advancements in endoscopy technology and techniques through continuing education and training opportunities.
• Maintain professional licensure and certifications, including any required by regulatory bodies such as the Ministry of Health (MOH).
