Collection Supervisor

Job Description

• Oversee the submission of insurance claims for medical services provided.
• Ensure that claims are accurate, complete, and comply with insurance guidelines.
• Follow up on outstanding insurance claims to expedite reimbursement.
• Supervise the billing process for patient services, including the generation and delivery of invoices.
• Coordinate with billing staff to address billing inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
• Implement and enforce billing and collection policies.
• Manage the accurate posting of payments received from patients and insurance companies.
• Reconcile payments against outstanding balances and resolve discrepancies.
• Supervise the collection team in following up on overdue patient accounts.
• Develop and implement effective strategies for patient collections, considering sensitivity to healthcare-related issues.
• Stay informed about healthcare billing regulations, such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and other relevant laws.
• Ensure that the collection processes comply with healthcare industry standards and guidelines.
• Generate and analyze reports related to collections, accounts receivable, and billing performance.
• Provide regular updates to management regarding the financial status of accounts.
• Train and develop collection staff on healthcare-specific billing and collection practices.
• Keep the team informed about changes in healthcare regulations and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with patient services to address patient concerns and inquiries related to billing and collections.
• Ensure a patient-friendly approach in the collection process.
• Work with EHR systems to streamline billing and collection processes.
• Ensure that financial data is accurately reflected in electronic health records.
• Conduct periodic audits of billing and collection processes to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance.
• Implement corrective actions as needed based on audit findings.
